  • 1899
    ヤマト糊

    Started production and sales of "YAMATO PASTE-GLUE" in Sumida-Ku, Tokyo. Founded the “Yamato Nori Honpo”, predecessor of Yamato CO., LTD.
    As a first-ever long-life starch paste in Japan, Yamato Paste Glues became widely accepted in the marketplace.

  • 1923
    Introduced Ms. Sumiko Kurishima, a popular actress, as a model for an advertisement of Yamato.

    Moved Head Office to Chuo-ku, Tokyo. Changed the corporate name to “YAMATO GLUE INDUSTRY”.

  • 1950

    Obtained patent for the “Reiko” method, chemical processing and manufacturing strong adhesive and not deteriorated starch paste without heat.

  • 1952

    Started selling of tube type starch glue, which is convenient to carry.

    Started largely automated production lines.

  • 1958

    Changed a container of Yamato Starch Paste Glue from glass to plastic. Precursor of plastic container.

    YAMATO has entered into an alliance with 3M USA and started selling Scotch tapes and other 3M products.

    Changed the corporate name to “Yamato CO.,LTD.”

    Started sales of "ARABIC YAMATO", liquid glue.

    Established Hiroshima Assembly Plant.

    Y.I.C. moved to new facility in Woodhaven, MI.
